About SokoSwift Kenya

A smarter, safer marketplace for Kenya

“Soko” means market in Swahili. We’re building the kind of market we always wanted: busy, friendly, local and honest, where people and businesses can trade with confidence.

Why we started

Buying and selling online should be easy. Too often it isn’t. Big platforms are full of scams, ads for things that sold weeks ago, and sellers you can’t check. Small businesses get buried under paid ads, and many people don’t want to use their personal social media to sell a sofa or find a plumber.

We studied what works on marketplaces around the world, from Jiji in Africa to Leboncoin in France and Vinted across Europe, and what frustrates people most here in Kenya. SokoSwift Kenya is the result: simple to use, honest by design, and built around local people and local businesses.

What we stand for

Safety first

Private phone numbers, chats that stay on the platform, one-tap reporting and a real team reviewing reports.

Honest by default

Every ad says whether it's from a private seller or a business. Sold and expired ads are clearly marked. No fake reviews, ever.

Built for local business

From surplus stock to shop fittings, we make it easy for Kenyan businesses to trade with each other, not just with consumers.

Fair and simple

Free for individuals. No pushy upsells, no hidden fees, and paid features will always be clearly labelled.

Help us build it

We’re just getting started. Tell us what would make SokoSwift better for you or your business. We read every message.
